Podcast Maker

Hybrid experimentation to let your voice be heard at ease

THE PROJECT

Scope of work: Design research, UI/UX design

Date: June - November 2021

Team: Ngoc Hoang, Liem Ly, Bao Nguyen, Lan Nguyen, Nguyen Pham, Thuong Nguyen, Son Phan, Huynh Vo

‘It-What-Must-Not-Be-Named’ pandemic has imposed a myriad of consequences for health and well-being worldwide. Researchers found that positive emotions (i.e., happy, energetic, inspired, optimistic, and content) became less prevalent and some negative emotions (i.e., sad, stressed, scared, frustrated) worsened during and between waves of outbreak. Fortunately, evidence from study suggested that engaging with social media may have adverse effects on well-being, counting the possibility of social media producing positive outcomes. Moreover, interactions via social media that include voice lead to stronger social connection compared to those without voice. It based the initial inspiration for us to start the project.

PROJECT

THE DESIGN

The app aims to target group of users who strive to become a Podcast Creator. With Podcast Maker, users will be able to use the built-in sound importing, recording, and numerous sound editing tools to make podcast from anywhere, at anytime and export the outputs to any cloud platforms.

DESIGN

THE PROCESS

It’s important to make sure the user’s needs are met at each step of the design process. Building a product is not just about making a cool looking app, or having fancy animations between pages, it’s about building a product people enjoy using. A product that fills a users need or address pain points in their daily interactions with technology.

PROCESS

We originally started collecting the assets and designing the interface in Figma. Once the final screens were created, it was time for more user’s feedback. We prepared a research plan and script to outline how the testing will be conducted, and of course a quick prototype for testing.

Thanks to the testing we found a few areas of the app that need adjusting. But overall, the app and the structure were good to go and ready to be handed to our developers. As the app continues to be built and then used, there will be lots of work to be done. There are still more iteration and improvement, and importantly, more functionalities we hope to include in future releases.
